Job Details: Job Location: 1990 N CALIFORNIA BLVD, 8TH FLOOR - WALNUT CREEK, CA 94596, Salary Range: $35.00 - $35.00 Hourly, Science QA/Proofreader 1099 Contractor, Remote Duration: September 2026 - February 2027 (with possibility for future project work) Time Commitment: Approximately 5-10 hours/week Compensation: $35/hour Project: ACT® Contractors Needed: one ABOUT US CollegeSpring is the only national nonprofit providing teacher-led test prep during the school day, helping students impacted by poverty unlock greater options after high school. For 16 years, we’ve partnered with school districts and organizations nationwide to help more than 50,000 primarily first-generation, economically disadvantaged, BIPOC students unlock opportunity through increased scores on gateway tests like the SAT®, ACT®, and TSIA2 (Texas Success Initiative Assessment). Today, we continue to expand by maximizing impact through larger district and nonprofit partnerships and harnessing the power of technology to better serve teachers and students. ABOUT THE ROLE CollegeSpring is seeking a qualified contractor to review and QA Science lessons and items aligned to the ACT® from September 2026 to February 2027. The contractor will work closely with the curriculum team to ensure test items are aligned to the exam and standards, accurate, rigorous, and inclusive. WHAT YOU’LL DO Participate in a project kick-off call, weekly check-ins, and additional check-ins as needed with the curriculum team to set goals, review work, and discuss progress. Communicate regularly with the Digital Curriculum Senior Manager regarding deadlines, feedback, and transparency on work progress. Review sample ACT® Science lessons, test items, and writing guidelines. Topics will be assigned from the following: Passage Types Data Representation (100 words) with a variety of standards-based questions Research Summaries (275 words) with a variety of standards-based questions Conflicting Viewpoints (350 words) with a variety of standards-based questions Includes graphics (charts, tables, diagrams, etc) Topic Types Biology Chemistry Physics Earth and Space Science Proofread the lessons in Google Slides to ensure: Content is accurate and free of grammar/spelling errors ACT-aligned objectives are consistently met Slide animations and instructional flow make pedagogical sense Strategy and example slides meet assessment rigor and format Proofread content in Google Docs using a structured template Flag inconsistencies between slides, objectives, notes, and the ACT®. Qualifications: EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS Deep understanding of secondary Science content Experience with the ACT® or willingness to quickly learn Tech-savvy with confidence navigating: Google Slides, Google Sheets, Google Docs, LMS, and Monday.com Strong project management skills and ability to meet project deadlines Excellent written communication skills Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through Detail-oriented with a strong editorial eye #J-18808-Ljbffr Paycom
