Job Description

This role is an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career in a manufacturing environment that produces premium roofing materials for commercial and residential construction. You will primarily operate extruders and presses, with the opportunity to cross-train across the entire plant and advance into more complex responsibilities. As you learn each machine, you will take on tasks such as basic troubleshooting, adjusting operating parameters, and reporting scrap, becoming a key contributor to safe, efficient production.

Responsibilities

• Operate manufacturing equipment, with a focus on extruders and presses, in a safe and efficient manner.
• Learn the specific operating procedures for each machine and apply them consistently during production.
• Monitor machine performance and product quality, making basic adjustments such as speed and settings as needed.
• Perform basic troubleshooting on equipment to address minor issues and support continuous operation.
• Accurately report scrap and production data in accordance with plant procedures.
• Follow all safety guidelines and use appropriate safety practices while working around loud machinery, fumes, odors, and dust.
• Support general production activities, including inspection and quality checks, to ensure products meet required standards.
• Collaborate with team members and leads to maintain smooth workflow across shifts and production lines.
• Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment when needed, if trained and authorized.
• Participate in cross-training opportunities to learn different machines and processes throughout the plant.

Essential Skills

• 3–5 years of machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, or a solid work history in a similar production setting.
• Basic mechanical aptitude, with the ability to understand how machinery functions and perform simple adjustments.
• Experience in a manufacturing or general production environment, including exposure to quality and inspection processes.
• Ability to perform basic troubleshooting on machines, such as adjusting speed and operating parameters.
• Comfort working with tools and equipment commonly used in manufacturing operations.
• Strong basic math skills, including the ability to perform unit conversions such as feet to inches.
• Ability to work weekend shifts (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) on either day or night schedules as assigned.
• Willingness to work in a loud, industrial environment with exposure to fumes, odors, and dust.
• Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic suitable for a cyclical manufacturing business.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Forklift experience (sit-down) is a plus.
• Micrometer and caliper experience is a plus but not required.
• Lead or supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment is beneficial.
• Experience in quality, inspection, or general production is advantageous.
• Mechanical inclination, including prior hands-on work with machinery or equipment, is valued.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment or military Experience may be considered in lieu of direct machine operating experience.
• Completion of a technical school program related to manufacturing, mechanics, or industrial technology is a plus.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility that produces roofing materials, with some exposure to the outdoors. The environment includes loud machinery, fumes, odors, and dust, and work is performed on the production floor around operating equipment. Business is cyclical, and schedules are organized by shifts. Current needs are primarily on weekend C and D shifts: C Shift runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; D Shift runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Additional weekday B shifts are planned: B Shift day runs Monday through Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and B Shift night runs Monday through Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. You will train on the shift where you will work, and you should be comfortable with long, structured shifts in a busy industrial setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Senatobia, MS.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
