Project Manager This role will NOT work under the supervision of a Professional Engineer. Metro Water Recovery is a nationally recognized leader among clean water utilities, providing wastewater conveyance and treatment services for more than 2 million people in the Denver Metro area. Description The Project Manager leads medium to large cross‑functional business transformation projects from initiation through completion, ensuring delivery on time and within budget. The position applies change‑management and continuous improvement principles, may supervise staff, and reports to the Senior Continuous Improvement Manager. Responsibilities Manage and oversee the planning and implementation of medium to large cross‑functional business transformation projects at Metro; align projects with organizational strategies and incorporate continuous‑improvement methodologies. Serve as the primary point of contact for senior leadership and project stakeholders, managing expectations and ensuring needs are addressed throughout the project lifecycle. Lead project change‑management efforts, applying the ADKAR methodology to achieve high adoption and utilization rates. Lead, motivate, and manage project teams across departments; foster collaboration and continuous improvement. Monitor project resources to ensure efficient allocation; meet financial objectives; provide updates on current and future spending. Develop full‑scale project plans including schedules, deadlines, milestones; communicate tasks and resource requirements to leadership. Identify, analyze, and mitigate project risks; implement strategies to minimize impact. Work with the Organizational Communications division to develop and maintain a communication plan, ensuring clear and timely communication with project teams, stakeholders, senior management, and employees. Conduct post‑project evaluations to assess outcomes, identify lessons learned, and integrate insights into future projects. Support Metro’s capital‑funded continuous‑improvement program. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Advanced knowledge of PMI (Project Management Institute) principles. Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma. Proficiency in change‑management methodologies and project tools. Proven success in completing medium to large cross‑functional projects. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Project, Planner, and Visio. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, project management, engineering, or a related field. PMP certification is preferred; a combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Working Conditions Working on a variety of floor surfaces including tile, carpet, sidewalks, parking lots, uneven, slippery, or wet surfaces; varied lighting conditions (natural light, fluorescent, headlamps, incandescent, overhead). Employees may work both indoors and outdoors, and may experience vibration from vehicle traffic. Typical Body Position Demands: reaching, standing, walking, balancing, object handling, typing, hand grasping, driving, sitting, climbing stairs, stooping, kneeling, crouching, fine hand coordination.
