Senior Accountant

Position Summary: The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in managing the financial health of our manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for a wide range of accounting activities. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a keen eye for detail and a proven ability to contribute to process improvements. Key Responsibilities: General Ledger & Financial Reporting: Prepare and post journal entries related to manufacturing activities, including cost of goods sold, inventory adjustments, and production accruals. Reconcile balance sheet accounts, with a focus on inventory and related accruals. Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Provide financial analysis and reporting to support management decision-making. Cost Accounting: Develop, analyze, and maintain standard costs for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods. Perform regular cost roll-ups and analyze the impact of changes in material, labor, and overhead costs. Analyze manufacturing variances (e.g., material usage, labor efficiency, overhead spending) and provide actionable insights to operations management. Support the annual budget process for manufacturing costs. Participate in make-or-buy analysis and other strategic cost initiatives. Inventory Management: Oversee accurate inventory valuation and reconciliation. Lead and/or assist with physical inventory counts and cycle counting programs. Analyze inventory obsolescence and reserves. Work closely with supply chain and production teams to optimize inventory levels. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification preferred but not required. Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years specifically in a manufacturing environment. Strong experience with cost accounting principles, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation. Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics) is required; experience with manufacturing modules is a significant plus. Solid understanding of GAAP. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
