Banker, Director - North America Public Sector: State & Local

The Director will be responsible for leading the strategic direction of clients, owning client relationships and delivering on revenue growth goals. The Director will focus on originating new business, developing client relationships and delivering the best ideas, products and services to public sector entities, working in partnership the broader leadership team. The Director will guide and advise the banking team and work with product partners to deliver revenue growth goals. The goal of this position is to drive sustainable revenue growth and the highest degree of client satisfaction by delivering the best of Citi’s global platform across Banking, Markets, and Services while efficiently deploying the Bank’s capital and effectively managing risk. Description of Role & Responsibilities: Set the strategic direction for clients and for the banking teams that lead client relationships Own client relationships, develop strong c-level contacts, establish Citi as “first-call” for all business Originate new business and identify cross-sell opportunities in partnership with product partners across Banking, Markets and Services Bring new and innovative ideas on a proactive and consistent basis that reflect government priorities and policies Drive proactive proposals, content/thought leadership, to capture mindshare of clients Strategic planning and execution of growth strategies and client engagement Develop a strong and well-recognized Citi Public Sector brand in the market, demonstrating our competitive positioning Develop rapport with senior product leaders and first and second line of defense (Sanctions, AML, Legal, Onboarding) to ensure unique aspects of our clients are considered and reflected in how we do business Develop deep knowledge of each client to advocate for clients’ bespoke needs within the Citi network Become expert in navigating Citi processes with a Public Sector lens and approach new processes by looking at them from a public sector angle to ensure the unique needs of our sector are incorporated Contribute to Citi Public Sector events and initiatives including working in an advisory capacity with other PAM teams and supporting Public Sector seniors with client facing materials Proactively train and mentor junior staff in an apprenticeship environment Travel to client meetings within budget, to secure new business and enhance overall client satisfaction Skills & Competencies: Play to win mentality Strategic planning and execution Promote culture of innovation and habitually looks for ways to improve internal processes, develop best practices and willingness to take on challenges outside of job description and comfort zone Effective management of risk and controls Self-starter that must be able to succeed in high pressure environment while maintaining strong execution skills and delivering high quality results on-time Thrive in a results-oriented team environment that operates as meritocracy Problem solving skills, intellectual curiosity, confidence/judgment in ambiguous situations Fluent in macroeconomic trends and relevant industry and product information to differentiate advice and services from our competitors Strong verbal, written, analytical, banking, negotiation, technical and systems skills High degree of emotional intelligence Demonstrated interest in geopolitics and passion for Public Sector Qualifications: 12 + years of banking and/or Government sales and contracting experience preferred Series 79 and 63 required within 90 days of accepting the job Credit Trained, fluent in the corporate finance agenda Strong understanding of cash management, payments, Banking and Corporate Banking business Education: Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience Master's degree preferred Job Family Group: Institutional Banking Job Family: Corporate Banking Time Type: Full time Primary Location: New York New York United States Primary Location Full Time Salary Range: $200,000.00 - $300,000.00 In addition to salary, Citi’s offerings may also include, for eligible employees, discretionary and formulaic incentive and retention awards.
