Job Opportunity: Medical Director of Intracranial Epilepsy Monitoring Program

Our organization is actively searching for a full-time, board-certified or board-eligible Neurologist who has completed a two-year surgical epilepsy fellowship. This role will serve as the Medical Director of our Intracranial Epilepsy Monitoring Program within the Neurology Department.

• Oversee patient care and the development of the intracranial monitoring program.
• Work primarily at our Scarborough Campus, which features an on-site MRI and neurodiagnostic lab.
• Collaborate with the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) located at a nearby medical center in Portland, Maine.
• Engage in research opportunities supported by the MaineHealth Institute for Research, with the possibility of dedicated time for academic pursuits.

Our Comprehensive Epilepsy Program is recognized as a Level III Epilepsy Center, providing care for over 4,000 patients annually. The team currently includes:

• Five epileptologists (three adult and two pediatric)
• Two dedicated nurse practitioners
• Five nursing staff members and a nurse navigator

We collaborate closely with a fellowship-trained epilepsy/functional neurosurgeon, neuroradiologists, nuclear medicine specialists, and a dedicated neuropsychologist and psychometrician as we work towards establishing a Level IV comprehensive epilepsy program. Our facilities include five EMU beds (three for adults and two for pediatrics) and fully accredited inpatient and outpatient neurodiagnostic labs, along with a 3T MRI.

• Join a well-established Neurology Department with over 35 sub-specialty trained Adult and Pediatric neurologists, Neurohospitalists, and Advanced Practice Professionals.
• Benefit from a robust clinical and administrative support team, including an onsite pharmacist, behavioral health counselor, social worker, neuropsychologist, and psychometrician.
• Participate in hospital admission services, stroke and telestroke care, with after-hours phone call coverage managed by dedicated Neurohospitalists.
• Inpatient coverage is limited to a fair share of daytime responsibilities on the neurology consult service for four to five weeks each year.
• Opportunity to educate MaineHealth Neurology residents, as well as residents and fellows from other departments and medical students from Tufts University.
• Academic appointments are available through our affiliation with Tufts Medical School, with pathways for academic advancement.
