Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist

Required Skills & Experience:

• 3+ years of Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) experience
• CCDS (Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist) or CDIP (Certified Documentation Integrity Practitioner) certification required
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license OR Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
• Ability to successfully complete and pass a CDI skills competency assessment
• Strong understanding of CDI methodologies, medical terminology, disease processes, and healthcare reimbursement models

Nice to Have Skills & Experience:

• Experience working in acute care, academic or teaching hospital environments

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Specialist to partner with healthcare providers and interdisciplinary teams to improve the accuracy, completeness, and quality of clinical documentation. In this role, you will help ensure documentation accurately reflects patient severity, risk, quality outcomes, and reimbursement methodologies while supporting organizational compliance initiatives.

This is a fully remote contract opportunity with a strong potential to convert to a full-time employee based on performance during the contract period.

Pay Rate: $40-$45/hour Pay ranges for this job title may differ based on location, responsibilities, skills, experience, and other requirements of the role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review medical records to ensure documentation accurately reflects patient conditions, treatments, and outcomes.
• Collaborate with physicians and care teams to clarify documentation through compliant queries and education.
• Identify opportunities to improve clinical documentation quality and coding accuracy.
• Support organizational quality, compliance, and reimbursement initiatives.
• Monitor documentation trends and provide recommendations for process improvement.
• Maintain strong knowledge of CDI best practices, coding guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
