Role Description

This is a full-time (also part-time hours available), on-site role located in Poway, CA for a Direct Support Professional. The Direct Support Professional will assist adults with developmental disabilities in achieving their personal goals, attending community events and maintaining their independence. Responsibilities include supporting daily activities, building social skills, providing training on life skills, and fostering inclusion within the community. The role also involves clear and compassionate communication with participants, families, and team members to ensure a safe and supportive engagement with the community.

Qualifications

• Experience or background in Human Services and working with individuals with Intellectual Disabilities
• The ability to plan and lead activities with an individual or a group
• Strong Interpersonal Skills with a compassionate and patient approach
• Excellent Communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with individuals, families, and colleagues
• Experience in Training and coaching residents in life skills to promote independence
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to the needs of the residents
• Education requirements - some college attendance; further education in social work, psychology, or a related field is a plus
• Prior experience in a similar role is preferred but not mandatory
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is a MUST
• Starting salary is $20/hour
