Summary of Work

Key responsibilities include:

• Upkeep and maintain store inventory, shelving, and store displays. Maintain and operate store point of sale including register and money transactions. Perform administrative duties for the store including recording of transactions.
• Work with Site Supervisor to train seasonal staff on proper store operations.
• Welcome and greet guests and maintain the visitor contact station. Provide excellent customer service. Familiarize visitors with the State Historical Society mission and its partner sites.
• Manage reservations for room rentals, field trips, programs, and other similar programs. This includes coordinating with the Outreach Coordinator and Site Supervisor.
• Clean and tidy facilities including work areas, public areas, and bathrooms. Perform other light maintenance tasks which might include cleaning of store, dusting, emptying trash receptacles, etc.
• Help with events and outreach and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate with groups and individuals of diverse ages, interests, and perspectives, using appropriate language and hands-on skills.
• Ability to work flexible work hours and weekends.
• Ability to accurately complete required forms such as timesheets, till counts, reservations, etc.
• Self-motivated.
