RN Med/Surg

The RN Med/Surg utilizes the nursing process to provide comprehensive care for patients. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to deliver patient-centered care. Assist patients with activities of daily living. Assess patients' needs and develop appropriate care plans. Reassess patients' conditions and revise plans as needed. Educate patients and families about medications, treatments, and procedures. Instruct patients and families on post-discharge care. The RN Med/Surg performs nursing tasks related to physician-prescribed treatments. Function as a scrub nurse during surgical procedures. Function as a circulating nurse during surgical procedures. Recognize and respond to emergencies. Perform skin assessments and prevent hospital-acquired pressure injuries (HAPUs). Care for patients with catheters and prosthetics. The RN Med/Surg administers medications and IV therapies according to facility policies.

Requirements include completed courses for nursing from an accredited program approved by either the Commission for Education in Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. A current license in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth in the U.S. or the District of Columbia is required. Must have certification through the American Heart Association for Basic Life Support (BLS). Must have a minimum of one (1) year direct patient care experience within the last three (3) years.
