POSITION SUMMARY

Middle School Volleyball Assistant Coach – part‑time seasonal position beginning Monday, August 17, 2026 and ending late October 2026. Duties include assisting the head coach with all aspects of the middle school volleyball program for 7th and 8th‑grade teams (Green and White teams). The role involves coaching, practice planning, game operations, student‑athlete development, and collaboration with the Volleyball Program Head.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Instruct players in rules, regulations, equipment, and technique. Assist in planning and organizing tryouts, practices, and games. Assess players’ skills, monitor them during competition and practice, and report student‑athlete performance. Organize and direct individual and small group practices/exercises. Follow established procedures for athlete injuries. Model sports‑like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct toward players, officials, and spectators. Participate in special activities, including parent nights and end‑of‑season gatherings. Supervise and instruct student‑athletes during all team activities. Assist with maintenance and inventory of team equipment and apparel. Maintain regular communication with team parents and athletics staff. Attend required team and interscholastic athletics program meetings. Support multi‑sport participation and balanced achievement for student‑athletes. Ensure compliance with school and athletic association policies. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Athletics, Health, and Wellness.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree required. Prior coaching experience at middle school, high school, club, or collegiate level. First Aid and CPR certification. Enthusiasm for athletics in an independent school setting. Vision and creativity in coaching. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work in a team‑oriented environment. Background check approval required. Willingness to pursue certification from the National Federation of State High School Associations (CIC or AIC) and have a Commercial Driver’s License (Class B with P and S endorsements – preferred).
