About the Position

Key Responsibilities

• Provide acute and subacute care to patients with stroke (ischemic & hemorrhagic), transient ischemic attack, and other acute neurological illnesses on a 31-bed inpatient unit
• Care for medically unstable psychiatric patients, including those with suicidal ideation and alcohol detox needs, with a focus on medical-surgical nursing competency
• Deliver general medical-surgical nursing care with critical thinking and clinical expertise in alignment with high reliability organization standards
• Float as needed to other post-surgical and med/surg inpatient floors
• Document patient care accurately using Epic electronic health records
• Maintain AHA BLS certification and comply with all facility vaccination and health documentation requirements

• Active Kansas or Multistate RN license - no disciplinary actions (hits) permitted, no exceptions
• AHA BLS certification required at time of submission
• Minimum 1 year of acute care medical/surgical nursing experience
• ADN or BSN degree
• No first-time travelers; prior travel nursing experience required
• Local candidates are welcome and accepted at the same rate - no radius rule applies

• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification
• NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) certification
• Experience with Epic electronic health records (test-out option available)
• Interest in or availability for longer contract lengths (26-51 weeks preferred; priority given to longer commitments)
