Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, part of Southern Vermont Health Services, is seeking an experienced and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to support our urology practice. Position Overview
As a Nurse Practitioner within our Urology Department, you will work closely with our surgical team to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with urological conditions. You ll play a vital role in managing patient care from initial assessment through follow-up, assisting in urological surgeries and procedures, and educating patients and families.
Key Responsibilities

• Assist urology surgeons in diagnosing and treating urological conditions
• Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, assessments, and histories
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment and care plans
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging
• Support and assist with urologic surgeries and in-office procedures
• Educate patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment options, and post-care instructions
• Manage post-operative care and ongoing follow-up
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, clinical staff, and administrative team members
• Adhere strictly to universal precautions and OSHA guidelines, managing exposure to blood, body fluids, and communicable diseases

Qualifications & Experience

• Valid certification as a Nurse Practitioner via ANCC
• Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner, preferably in urology or a related specialty
• VMS Certification required (ANCC preferred)
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
• Excellent communication, assessment, and critical thinking skills
• Comfort with performing clinical procedures and supporting surgical teams

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious materials, following OSHA standards
• Physically demanding activities including manual dexterity, patient handling, and standing for significant periods
• Frequent use of hands and fingers for clinical tasks
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. with appropriate precautions
• Visual requirements include close and color vision with the ability to adjust focus

Additional Information

• This role is not open to candidates planning to work multiple jobs or with less than 1-year experience
• Candidates must reside within a 1-hour commute to Brattleboro
