UTILITIES MASTER MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST I (CLASS CODE 3408)

OVERVIEW

This master‑level skilled maintenance position at the Board involves performing skilled construction, maintenance, and repair tasks for the Sewerage and Water Board's plant equipment and facilities. The Specialist originates projects, obtains permits for construction and installations, and oversees the work of apprentices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Originate and manage maintenance projects for plant equipment and facilities.
• Obtain necessary permits for construction and installations.
• Supervise and coordinate the work of apprentices and other support staff.
• Apply broad construction, equipment, and repair techniques across multiple trades.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED.

• Valid Driver’s License.
• Two (2) years of full‑time, journeyman‑level experience as an electrician, machinist, welder, or stationary diesel mechanic.

Trade‑specific licensure and skills: Electrical – Class A, C, or D license. • Ability to perform wiring, lighting, motor, and control system tasks. Machinist – Journeyman‑level skill in manufacturing machine parts and tools, assembling, installing, and repairing machinery, with demonstrated ability to operate a lathe. • Experience in the manufacture of machine parts and various types of machinery. Welder – Journeyman‑level experience with at least six (6) months of pipe welding. Competency in electric, acetylene, and heliarc welding of carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, bronze, mold, and case iron, and ability to lay out, cut, and fit work. Diesel Mechanic – Journeyman‑level skill in stationary diesel engine repair and maintenance. Note: Journeyman level for internal candidates begins at the Utilities Trade Specialist I level. Prior to appointment, the hiring agency will verify all education, licenses, and credentials claimed by the applicant. Applicants must provide original documentation prior to the start date in the classification.
