Job Summary Billing Systems Analyst I – leads billing management for sponsored research projects in the Office of Research Administration (ORA) at Colorado School of Mines. Serves as a resource to sponsors, faculty, and campus administrators. Primary Responsibilities Create, modify, and correct billing schedules in the school’s financial system and ORA’s enterprise project tracking system. Process monthly, quarterly, and annual sponsor billing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with sponsor and university policies. Resolve billing disputes, unreconciled payments, and sponsor short payments, collaborating with ORA staff and the Controller’s office. Maintain accurate cash receipts, apply payments correctly, monitor the grant holding account, and correct misapplied payments. Conduct accounts receivable collections, review aging reports, and take appropriate collection actions. Participate in process improvement and training, maintaining procedural statements and leading improvement initiatives. Generate and update ad‑hoc reports using Mines financial system, Cognos, or other databases for debugging and analysis. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or equivalent experience. At least 2 years of experience with accounts receivable, cash receipts, and account reconciliations. Strong knowledge of federal invoicing websites, GAAP, and research regulations. Proficiency in spreadsheets, database, presentation software, and enterprise financial systems. Excellent customer service, communication, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to meet multiple deadlines and produce error‑free work. Preferred Qualifications Experience in higher‑education or government accounting. Knowledge of GASB and Uniform Guidance. Salary and Benefits Annual salary range: $59,000 – $63,000. Flexible health and dental care options. 13 paid holidays per year (including a week‑long winter break).
