CNC Operator/Machinist

CNC Machine Operator / CNC Machinist The CNC Machine Operator / CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC machine tools to manufacture precision metal components that meet strict quality and dimensional requirements. This role works with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure efficient manufacturing while maintaining high standards of accuracy, safety, and productivity. The ideal candidate has experience operating CNC mills, lathes, or other precision machining equipment in a manufacturing environment. Experience working with aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, or other specialty alloys is highly preferred. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment to produce precision components. Load raw materials, tooling, and fixtures while ensuring proper machine setup. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and GD&T requirements. Perform machine offsets, tool changes, and basic program adjustments as needed. Monitor machine performance and inspect parts throughout the production process to ensure dimensional accuracy. Utilize precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and other inspection tools. Verify parts meet customer specifications and quality standards. Troubleshoot machining issues and communicate concerns with supervisors, programmers, and engineering teams. Maintain accurate production records and inspection documentation. Perform routine machine maintenance and keep work areas clean and organized. Follow all safety procedures and manufacturing best practices. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, and waste reduction. Qualifications 25+ years of experience operating CNC machining equipment in a manufacturing environment. Experience with CNC mills, lathes, machining centers, or multi-axis equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T. Experience performing machine setups, tool changes, and offset adjustments. Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, feeds, and speeds. Experience inspecting precision machined components using standard measuring equipment. Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. Ability to work independently while maintaining production and quality standards. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in aerospace, defense, medical device, semiconductor, or other precision manufacturing environments. Experience with 3-axis, 4-axis, or 5-axis CNC machining. Familiarity with Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, Okuma, Siemens, or Mitsubishi controls. Experience machining aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, or other specialty alloys. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement practices. Ability to use overhead cranes, forklifts, or material handling equipment where applicable.
