Budget Analyst PositionThis position is an advanced trainee position in the field of budgeting located at the National Park Service, Intermountain Region, Southern Arizona Office. Open to the first 100 applicants or until 09/01/2026 whichever comes first. All applications submitted by 11:59 (EST) on the closing day will receive consideration.Major duties of the Budget Analyst position include, but are not limited to:Monitoring fund status of appropriations which require detailed budget and financial analysis and program reportingCommunicating with park staff and management to plan, monitor, and report on financial resourcesPerforming budget execution and formulation in compliance with applicable fiscal and appropriation laws, regulations, congressional guidance, and departmental proceduresOperating various financial and budget systems to extract financial data and report the status of funds, estimate annual carryover balances, and develop ad-hoc management reportsDuties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.Conditions of Employment:U.S. Citizenship requiredAppointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudicationMeet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for malesSelectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer ProgramAny individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirementsMust possess and maintain a valid driver's license throughout employmentYou may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 2 nights per monthYou are required to complete training, obtain and maintain a government credit card with travel and purchase authorityApplicants must be at least 18 years old or at least 16 years old and:Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high schoolHave completed a formal vocational training programHave received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their educationBe currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment programQualifications:All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement – 09/01/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Competitive candidates must also meet Time-in-Grade requirements as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess at least of the following of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:Experience: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors)Education: Successful completion of at least one full year of graduate education that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities in a related field such as accounting, public administration, or similarCombination: Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described aboveMeet the criteria for Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.) as evidenced by one of the three following methods:I am in the upper third of my graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivisionI have a GPA 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculumI am a member in one of the national scholastic honor societies
