Job Description Summary Specialize in magnetic resonance imaging scanners. They inject patients with contrast media, such as a dye, so that the images will show up on the scanner. The scanners use magnetic fields in combination with the contrast agent to produce images that a physician can use to diagnose medical problems. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or an AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Copy of academic degree or transcript required. Description MRI technologists operate MRI scanners that produce images of patients’ bodies for diagnostic testing. They are responsible for presenting clear images to physicians to provide an accurate diagnosis. MRI technologists ensure they follow safety standards and explain the MRI process to patients. They monitor patients during scanning, monitor equipment functions, and ensure they capture clear images. They also recognize abnormalities and irregularities in images, and understand the difference between a quality image and one that needs to be retaken. Minimum Experience and Training Requirements Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
