Position Summary
The Training Operations Lead – Assembly owns the training lifecycle for all assembly line personnel, including frame & structure assemblers, electrical assemblers, mechanical/piping assemblers, finish assemblers, test technicians, in-process QC technicians, and assembly material handlers. This role ensures every assembler is technically trained, safety-certified, and capable of executing multi-station assembly workflows to meet production throughput targets and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assembly Training Program Ownership — Design, deliver, and maintain role-based training curricula for all assembly stations: Station 1 (Frame & Structure), Station 2 (Electrical and Mechanical/Piping), Station 3 (Finish Assembly), and Station 4 (Testing & Validation).
- Electrical & Process Safety Certification — Ensure all assembly personnel complete required certifications including NFPA 70E (Qualified), Electrical Safe Work Practices, LOTO (Authorized User), Pressure Testing Safety, and Working at Heights certification.
- QC/Test Specialized Training — Manage specialized training for QC and test technicians covering Electrical Testing Safety (Hi-pot, Megger), Pressure Systems Safety, and Laser/Scanning Safety protocols.
- OJT Coaching & Hands-On Instruction — Deploy and oversee OJT coaches and technical trainers across all assembly stations to provide hands-on instruction, skill validation, and real-time coaching on the production floor.
- Multi-Station Competency Tracking — Implement and manage competency-based progression pathways for each assembly station, ensuring personnel advance from awareness → qualified → certified based on demonstrated skill.
- SOP & Work Instruction Alignment — Collaborate with the Operations Manager – Assembly to ensure all training content accurately reflects current assembly SOPs, work instructions, testing protocols, and quality standards.
- Leadership Development — Support training and development of Working Leads – Assembly, ensuring they are equipped to provide frontline coaching, task oversight, and team guidance at a 1:10 working lead-to-staff ratio.
- Training KPIs & Reporting — Track training completion, certification readiness, time-to-competency, and effectiveness by role and shift; integrate into governance cadence and performance reviews.
- Continuous Improvement — Leverage quality data (first pass yield, defect rates, rework), incident reports, and operational feedback to identify training gaps and continuously refine assembly training programs.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in training, technical instruction, or workforce development within assembly, manufacturing, or electro-mechanical production environments
- Strong knowledge of electrical assembly, mechanical/piping assembly, and multi-station production workflows
- Direct experience managing NFPA 70E, electrical safety, LOTO, and pressure testing certification programs
- Experience with competency-based training models and progressive qualification systems
- Familiarity with quality systems (first pass yield, in-process QC, testing & validation)
- Proficiency with LMS platforms and digital training delivery tools
- Experience supporting multi-shift production operations at scale
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field preferred; technical trade certifications a plus
Compensation:
$42/hr to $53/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
