Role Description
We are currently hiring a Lead Software Engineer to help grow our company and ensure our mission is achieved! This role is a work from home position and can be performed remotely anywhere in the continental US or at our corporate location in Utah.

YOU ARE:
- A hands-on tech lead who codes daily and lives and breathes AI-assisted development.
- Expected to be in the codebase regularly, shipping production work alongside the team you lead.
- Passionate about developer experience, mentoring, and coaching.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:
- Write and ship production code regularly.
- Own technical decisions across a multi-service backend platform (C#/.NET and Java/Spring Boot), deployed on Kubernetes (AWS EKS).
- Use AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Copilot, or similar) as a daily working tool.
- Build and champion internal AI-driven tooling and automation.
- Design and drive cross-service initiatives.
- Learn and stay current on how our lease-to-own business actually works.
- Collaborate and participate in developing solutions together in cross-discipline teams.
- Actively participate in code reviews.
- Contribute to evaluations as we select new software, tools, and AI capabilities.
- Participate in production support: deployments, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
- Demonstrate a high sense of ownership and accountability for work produced.
Qualifications
- 8+ years' experience in a software engineering function.
- Real depth in at least one of C#/.NET or Java/Spring.
- Daily, hands-on fluency with AI coding tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent).
- Experience building internal tooling or automation that measurably reduces manual engineering work.
- Genuine curiosity about the business behind the code.
- Creative problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- A passion for enriching the day-to-day developer experience.
- Track record operating across multiple services/repos.
- Experience with cloud-native deployment (AWS EKS/Kubernetes) and modern CI/CD pipelines.
- A desire to work cross-team, cross-stack.
- Strong fundamentals: async I/O patterns, resilience, API design, and financial/decimal-precision correctness.
- Experience mentoring engineers and driving technical decisions.
