This is a contract job opportunity. Potential for permanent. Schedule: Mon ‒ Fri, 7:15 a.m. ‑ 3:45 p.m., alternating Saturdays. Projected duration: 3 months + potential for permanent. Summary The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. Position Responsibilities Experience performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, updating patient information, etc. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Properly explain the process of venipuncture (blood drawing) and other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) as required, in a clear but courteous manner. Demonstrate technique(s) using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understand all physicians' orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order. Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. Package specimens for transport. Store specimen samples at the required temperature, place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label, and follow the procedures outlined by protocol to maintain specimen integrity. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Minimum Qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed, as required in some states. Minimum of 6 months of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting. Minimum of 2 years of overall experience in phlebotomy.
