RN – Surgical Acute (Nights)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | Three 12-hour shifts per week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide pre- and post-operative nursing care for adult surgical patients on a 34-bed surgical unit
• Care for patients undergoing procedures such as laparoscopic cholecystectomy, appendectomy, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, and surgeries involving chest tubes and drains
• Operate and monitor equipment including vital signs machines, IV and PCA pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
• Document patient care accurately using electronic medical records (EMR/WOWS)
• Maintain a patient assignment of 5–6 patients per shift
• Float to other units or departments as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active State of Hawaii RN license required by start of assignment
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse with proficiency in surgical pre- and post-operative care
• Current BLS certification (required)
• Current ACLS certification (required)
• Strong working knowledge of surgical nursing skills at an RPN III level

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with abdominal surgeries and complex post-operative patient management
• Familiarity with Pyxis, PCA pump management, and EMR charting systems
