Registered Behavior Technician

Registered Behavior TechnicianThe Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) will provide behavioral interventions in the school setting, utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques to teach communication, social, and daily living skills, while reducing problematic behaviors. The RBT will work directly with students to implement behavior intervention plans, collect data, assist in assessments, and support the Behavior Analyst, Behavior Coordinator, and School Psychologist as needed.Qualifications:Licensing/Certification: Valid North Carolina Driver's LicenseCompletion of a BACB approved RBT course and successful completion of the RBT certification examEducation: Associate's degree preferredHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredExperience: At least five (5) years of successful experience working with children with Autism or related developmental disabilities in a school or clinical settingAny combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilitiesEssential Functions:Follow prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocolsProvide direct services to students, both 1:1 and in group settings, using a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment trainingCollect, record, and summarize data related to student progressCommunicate with parents and caregivers regarding student progress under the guidance of the Behavior AnalystMaintain client confidentiality in adherence to FERPA and HIPAA lawsAssist with skill acquisition and behavior reduction assessmentsPrepare client materials as instructed by the Behavior Analyst or Behavior CoordinatorConduct professional development sessions with school staff and/or parentsAbide by school policies, the Board of Education's guidelines, and the code of ethics outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification BoardKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to follow behavioral protocols and implement clinical practices effectivelyStrong data collection, analysis, and reporting skillsAbility to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and the communityStrong organizational and time management skillsKnowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) practices and behavioral interventionsAbility to interpret and implement clinical protocols and written instructionsCommitment to ongoing training and professional developmentAbility to establish and maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the communityAbility to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environmentReports To: EC Director/PrincipalPhysical Demands:Must be able to lift up to 50 poundsMust be able to assist in lifting and carrying students with adaptive equipmentMust be able to maintain various postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periodsMust be able to restrain, hold, transport, and engage in quick body movements as required by the behavior intervention planAbility to use manual dexterity for data collection on electronic devicesMust be physically present at the assigned job locationMust have the visual acuity to read and comprehend written materialsWork Environment:Must be able to work in office and public school environments, engaging directly with staff and studentsTravel is required to various schools and Central Services officesWork is typically done in an office setting or within school environments with occasional direct student interactionTerms of Employment: 10 MonthsFLSA Status: Non-ExemptOSHA: The employee is not to handle any human body fluids, biological agents, laboratory chemicals, or be exposed to hazardous materials such as noise, asbestos, or carcinogensADA: The employer will make reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990This job description will be reviewed periodically as duties and responsibilities change with business necessity.
