Locum MD (Medical Doctor), DO (Osteopathic Doctor) Vascular Surgery

This contract position offers a unique opportunity to provide high-quality surgical care within a dynamic Medical Practice environment. As a Locum physician, you will play a critical role in supporting our vascular surgery department, ensuring seamless patient coverage and continuity of care.

In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating and managing patients with vascular conditions, performing surgical interventions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. Your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes and contribute to the practice's reputation for excellence in vascular care. We are looking for a flexible, skilled associate-level physician who can step in and deliver exceptional clinical results while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive vascular surgical care to patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Perform diagnostic evaluations, including interpreting imaging studies and vascular lab results.
• Execute surgical procedures for arterial, venous, and lymphatic disorders.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with referring physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure continuous coverage for emergent vascular cases.
• Document patient history, physical exams, procedures, and follow-up care accurately in electronic health records.
• Provide patient and family education regarding vascular conditions, treatment options, and postoperative care.
• Monitor postoperative progress and manage complications promptly and effectively.
• Adhere to all clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
• Active, unrestricted medical license in the state of Tennessee or eligibility to obtain one.
• Board certification or board eligibility in Vascular Surgery.
• Successful completion of an accredited vascular surgery fellowship.
• Associate-level experience (typically 1–3 years) in vascular surgery, including open and endovascular procedures.
• Proficiency in interpreting vascular imaging, including ultrasound, CT angiography, and MR angiography.
• Strong surgical skills with a focus on patient safety and outcomes.
• Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, and medical teams.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, on-site environment and adapt to changing clinical needs.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Commitment to maintaining continuing medical education (CME) requirements.

Schedule: 24-hour weekend call, 1:4 rotation

Setting: Inpatient

Daily Volume: 15-20 patients

Required Procedures: Bypasses, aneurysm repairs, angioplasties, stenting, and other endovascular repairs

Case Types: Cardio, bulging veins, leg swelling, etc.

Support Staff: APPs

EMR: Epic

Must be board-certified or board-eligible

BLS and DEA required
