MedStar Health Advanced Echocardiography Fellowship

About The Job Advanced Echocardiography Fellowship offers comprehensive training in all aspects of echocardiography within a high‑volume laboratory at one of the nation’s leading cardiology centers. Fellows will gain expertise in transesophageal, transthoracic, stress, 3‑D imaging, and peri‑procedural echocardiography while working with the structural and valvular heart disease team. Training Program & Responsibilities Over the course of the one‑year program, fellows will perform and interpret imaging for a wide variety of cardiovascular diseases including cardiomyopathies, heart failure requiring LVAD or other support devices, cardiac transplantation, congenital heart disease, complex cardiothoracic surgical cases, and valvular heart disease. Fellows will also rotate through the cardiac catheterization laboratory to provide intra‑procedural echocardiography for interventions such as left atrial appendage closure, transcatheter valve implantation, transcatheter edge‑to‑edge repair, percutaneous paravalvular leak closure, and mitral valve balloon valvuloplasty. In addition to clinical training, fellows will participate in case discussions, journal clubs, and echo conferences led by distinguished faculty. Prerequisites Applicants must have completed an ACGME‑accredited cardiology fellowship and achieved Level II echocardiography training. Qualified candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, cover letter, and two letters of recommendation.
