Accounting Representative

Accounting Representative – National Interstate Insurance Company Location: Richfield, Ohio (onsite, five days a week) Job Summary National Interstate seeks an Accounting Representative to support the accounts payable function, reconciling transactions and ensuring accurate financial records within the insurance industry. Responsibilities Administers the accounts payable function by processing invoices, verifying accuracy, and ensuring timely payments to vendors. Reconciles accounts payable transactions and resolves discrepancies to maintain accurate financial records. Applies knowledge of multiple accounting systems and external platforms to process transactions, generate payment registers, and produce related reports. Responds to inquiries from internal and external customers regarding invoices and payment status, fostering positive relationships with vendors and internal departments. Ensures compliance with internal controls, company policies, and all applicable regulations. Assists with month-end close activities and supports internal and external audits by providing documentation and information as requested. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; college level coursework in Accounting preferred. Experience: 1–3 years of related experience; previous accounting support experience in the insurance industry preferred. Advanced organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Knowledge of relevant state and federal regulations related to insurance accounting. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem‑solving abilities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Intermediate Microsoft Excel proficiency and experience working with multiple systems.
