Advanced Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

We are seeking a dedicated Advanced Respiratory Therapist to join a dynamic healthcare team in the Southern Gulf Coast region. This role prioritizes patient safety and education while delivering expert respiratory care.

Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapies efficiently and competently, ensuring patient safety and education are top priorities.
• Verify patient identity using two identifiers to guarantee accurate medication and treatment delivery.
• Review medical records for relevant orders and diagnostic information, collaborating closely with nursing staff and physicians to optimize patient care.
• Assess patients across all age groups for individualized needs, including education, medication effectiveness, and treatment response, documenting evaluations thoroughly.
• Respond promptly and professionally to emergency situations such as Rapid Response Team activations, codes, and STAT calls.
• Maintain proficiency in oxygen therapy, respiratory medications, and diagnostic procedures including EKG and stress testing.
• Recognize and document signs of respiratory dysfunction in patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics.
• Adhere to infection control protocols and hand hygiene guidelines to prevent the spread of infections.
• Clean, decontaminate, set up, and troubleshoot ventilators and other respiratory equipment.
• Ensure proper storage and maintenance of durable and disposable respiratory equipment and supplies.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment and attend work punctually as scheduled.
• Communicate effectively with department associates, hospital staff, and physicians to uphold high standards of patient care.
• Report critical situations, accidents, and departmental needs to appropriate authorities.
• Maintain competency in blood gas sampling, quality control, and equipment maintenance of blood gas analyzers.
• Document and report critical test values within established timeframes.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational goals and values.

Education

Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program and current certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is required.

Experience

Previous experience in respiratory care, including emergency response and diagnostic procedures, is preferred.
