Job Title: Welder Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Welder to join our team in Youngstown, OH. This position requires expertise in welding structural steel components and counterweights, with a focus on quality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding on structural steel components and counterweights using appropriate welding processes.

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to determine weld specifications and requirements.

• Set up and operate welding equipment safely and efficiently.

• Prepare materials for welding, including cleaning, cutting, and positioning components.

• Inspect welds to ensure conformance with quality and dimensional standards.

• Use measuring tools and gauges to verify accuracy and alignment of welded components.

• Identify weld defects and perform necessary repairs or adjustments.

• Maintain consistent weld quality and productivity to meet production targets.

• Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with standard housekeeping practices.

• Assist with material handling using appropriate equipment (e.g., hoists, cranes, forklifts if certified).

• Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to resolve production issues.

• Monitor equipment condition and report maintenance needs or safety concerns.

• Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance quality, efficiency, and safety.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• 1-2 years of experience in welding, structural steel fabrication, or a similar industrial environment.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings.

• Proficiency with common welding processes such as MIG, Flux-Cored, or Stick welding.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

• Ability to safely operate welding equipment and follow safety procedures.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50–70 lbs) as required.

• Ability to stand, bend, and perform physical work for extended periods.

• Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (heat, noise, etc.).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience welding large structural components or heavy steel assemblies.

• Familiarity with fabrication equipment such as cutting torches and grinders.

• Experience working with overhead cranes or material handling equipment.

• Knowledge of weld inspection standards and procedures.

• Previous experience in a high-volume production setting.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a manufacturing plant with shifts available: 1st Shift from 6:30am to 2:30pm, 2nd Shift from 2:30pm to 10:30pm, and 3rd Shift from 10:30pm to 6:30am starting Sunday night. Overtime is available and voluntary. Employees are required to adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Youngstown, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
