ACCOUNTS PAYABLE / CUSTOMER SERIVCE CLERK

The City of Eatonton is seeking an Accounts Payable/Customer Service Clerk to work in the Office of City Clerk. Duties include, but are not limited to, preparing, verifying, and processing all accounts payable transactions, coding and classifying transactions to the appropriate department and account, reconciling purchasing card transactions, processing weekly vendor payments, mailing checks to vendors, preparing and distributing IRS Form 1099s, and other duties as assigned. This position also serves as a Customer Service Clerk for the City. These duties include, but are not limited to, greeting customers at a service window, taking payments, giving receipts, maintaining balance in a cash drawer, assisting in preparing bank deposits, receiving new account applications, and answering billing questions. This position will perform other duties as required to support the operations of the Office of City Clerk, including municipal elections and absentee balloting. The individual must be able to multitask, fulfilling accounts payable obligations while handling telephone calls and serving customers. The selected individual must demonstrate good customer service skills, accounting knowledge, and computer skills. Applicant must have a valid driver’s license, a High School diploma or GED, the ability to read, write, and comprehend complex written or oral directives, to translate those directives into operational plans, the ability to plan and prioritize work, to adjust those plans to meet time limitations. The person must be able to see, hear, talk, walk, stand, stoop, sit, carry packages and objects weighing up to 10lbs, have the mental capacity to attend and pass public finance coursework offered at the University of Georgia.
