Parts Clerk

Job Title: Parts Clerk The Parts Clerk supports material handling, inventory control, purchasing, logistics, and receiving activities to ensure that parts and materials are accurately stocked, issued, and delivered to production on time. This role operates both indoors and outdoors, working closely with production, suppliers, and logistics partners to maintain an organized yard and warehouse while providing responsive customer service to internal stakeholders. Responsibilities Operate an outside seated forklift to safely move materials and parts in the yard. Operate an inside stand‑up forklift to move parts within the warehouse. Maintain clean, organized, and safe yard and warehouse areas, including proper staging of parts and materials. Perform weekly cycle counts using a handheld scanner to verify inventory accuracy. Investigate discrepancies between physical inventory and computer records, and resolve issues promptly. Issue parts to production in the computer system and physically by scanning parts out of warehouse locations to production bays. Return unused production parts to warehouse locations and remove them from shop orders in the system. Create purchase orders for local suppliers as needed to maintain appropriate stock levels. Pick up parts from local suppliers and ensure timely delivery to the facility. Track incoming shipments to prepare for receiving and coordinate with logistics providers. Schedule pickups with logistics providers or small package carriers such as UPS. Submit freight claims to logistics providers or UPS when shipments are damaged, missing, or incorrect. Verify packing slips against items received to ensure accuracy and completeness. Report any receiving discrepancies to the Materials Supervisor for resolution. Receive items in the computer system, ensuring accurate data entry and documentation. Scan packing slips into the computer system after receiving parts for record‑keeping and traceability. Scan parts received into warehouse locations to update inventory records. Support shipping and receiving activities, including stocking and organizing parts inventory. Provide customer service to internal departments by responding promptly to parts and inventory needs. Perform general labor tasks related to material handling, stocking, and inventory management as required. Essential Skills At least 12 months of experience working with inventory in an ERP or MRP system. At least 12 months of forklift experience, including operating seated and stand‑up forklifts. At least 12 months of experience working in a warehouse environment. Strong computer skills, including data entry and use of inventory management systems. Experience with inventory control, cycle counting, and parts inventory management. Ability to perform material handling, shipping and receiving, and stocking tasks. Customer service orientation when interacting with internal stakeholders. Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly. Valid driver’s license to support local parts pickups and deliveries. High school diploma or GED equivalent. Comfort working both indoors and partially outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to work a full‑time schedule and remain open to early starts or late stays for overtime as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with logistics coordination, including scheduling pickups and tracking shipments. Familiarity with submitting and following up on freight claims. General labor within a mechanic, fabrication, or production environment. Strong attention to detail when verifying packing slips, inventory counts, and system entries. Effective communication skills for reporting discrepancies and collaborating with supervisors and team members. Ability to stay organized in a fast‑paced environment with multiple incoming and outgoing parts. Comfort interacting with customers or vendors in a professional manner. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a mechanic garage and fabrication production shop environment, with a portion of the parts inventory stored outdoors. The Parts Clerk spends approximately 75% of the time outside in the elements and about 25% of the time inside the facility. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the expectation of staying late or coming in early for overtime when needed. The position requires frequent use of forklifts, handheld scanners, computers, and inventory management systems, as well as regular lifting and moving of materials. The work setting is customer‑facing, so attire includes jeans or long work pants and a neat polo or T‑shirt, with steel‑toe footwear required for safety. Job Type & Location Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 – $30.00 per hour.
