Project Cost Estimator

PADCOM Design & Construction Management Services LLC is sourcing a Lead Project Cost Estimator to support the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Facilities Services Division. This is a long-term on-site assignment supporting one of the largest public school construction programs in the nation. The Lead Project Cost Estimator leads and supervises a team of estimators and owns independent cost estimates across complex school building projects, Responsibilities: Lead and supervise a team of estimators, including daily assignments Prepare and review construction cost estimates from drawings, outlines, and specifications Prepare independent cost estimates for comparison against designer and contractor pricing to establish negotiating positions Check estimates from commissioned architects and engineers for accuracy and reconcile against District estimates Analyze and approve or reject change orders, extras, and credits on contracts under construction Prepare change order estimates and support price negotiations Conduct studies and reports when contractor bids vary widely from agreed estimates Prepare claim analysis and estimates, and review contractor claims for merit Establish budgets for school building projects and maintain cost data records Path A: 14 years full-time professional experience preparing complete cost estimates for major/complex Type I, II, III, and V building construction, plus a bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management, plus 3 years supervising estimators, plus at least 5 years at a construction cost consulting firm. Path B: 20+ years full-time professional cost estimating experience for major/complex Type I, II, III, and V building construction (degree not required), plus 5 years supervising estimators, plus at least 5 years at a construction cost consulting firm. Skills required: excellent written and oral communication, conceptual and preconstruction estimating for complex school projects, knowledge of current LA construction labor and material costs, change order scope development, and the ability to estimate quickly in a fast-paced environment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
