Child Protective Investigator

The Department of Children and Families is seeking a Child Protective Investigator. This position offers a competitive salary of $50,000.08 annually and is open to filling vacancies in Career Service. The role demands quick action to ensure the safety of children in crisis.

Responsibilities include conducting investigations of abuse, neglect, abandonment, and special conditions for children; collecting information through observation and interviews; assessing danger threats and child vulnerabilities; arranging emergency placements; notifying relevant authorities; providing families with service linkages; conducting assessments; and reporting indications of abuse to the Florida Abuse Hotline.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED equivalent and four years of law enforcement experience or active military service, or an associate degree or 60+ credit hours from an accredited college and two years of professional work experience, or a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Additional requirements include a valid driver's license, operational private vehicle, and the ability to attend an 8-12 week mandatory training course.

The position requires night, weekend, and holiday work, and may involve working during emergency situations. Incumbents must be physically able to perform various agility tasks and have the ability to work 16-hour shifts on occasion.
