23881 - Supervisor Bridge Tunnel

Job Description Supervise operational functions such as traffic control, public safety, communications, removal of disabled vehicles and enforcement of facility regulations during an assigned shift in an emergency situation of bridges and tunnels. How You Will Contribute Program Compliance: Stay current on technical changes that may affect the operation of equipment. Ensure accurate information transmission through the newly activated 511 system. Meet all requirements of the Virginia Work Area Protection Manual and regulate traffic using SOPs and applicable regulations. Project Management: Direct and coordinate the operation of traffic management systems, electrical control systems, and field operations. Oversee all security functions for the 24‑7 operations of the facility and ensure security requirements are met. Coordinate timely execution and notification of road closures, bridge restrictions, and suspicious activity that may affect the facilities. Knowledge of safety and security principles and practices. Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of equipment used on bridges, tunnels and roadways. Skill in basic computer operations. Skill in emergency vehicle operations. Skill in providing good customer service. Minimum Qualifications Ability to compile concise, accurate reports. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform basic computer operations. Ability to interpret, explain and apply regulations and procedures. Ability to lead, direct and train others in routine and emergency situations. Ability to operate traffic management, telecommunications and audio equipment. Knowledge of bridge operations and the operation and maintenance of equipment used on bridges, tunnels and roadways. Knowledge of safety and security principles and practices. Skill in emergency vehicle operations. Skill in providing good customer service. Valid driver's license. Additional Considerations Experience with traffic control functions and procedures and application of facility rules and regulations, governing traffic and hazardous material.
