Senior Refrigeration Mechanic – Apalachee Correctional Institution Requisition No: 859269 – Department of Corrections Date: Jul 4, 2026 JOB DUTIES This position is responsible for the installation and repair of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration components and associated systems, plus food service equipment in a major institution. It provides on‑the‑job training to supervised inmates in HVAC and associated systems. Installation and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems and food service equipment, and on‑the‑job training for supervised inmates. Maintains records on refrigerant use and recovery in compliance with DEP regulations and performs technical preventive maintenance on HVAC systems. Installs new electronic, pneumatic, and digital control systems, diagnoses problems with HVAC and closed‑loop systems. Executes HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building preventive maintenance tasks, and prepares reports for the Maintenance Superintendent. Maintains custody and control of supervised inmates, prepares progress reports for rehabilitation, and participates in required departmental staff training. REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent plus at least one (1) year of HVAC field experience, OR four (4) or more years of HVAC field experience.
