Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Onsite | Nights – 4x12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to cardiac and stroke patients including stable pre- and post-procedure care for pacemaker implantation, implanted cardioverter/defibrillators, cardiac catheterization, and interventional peripheral vascular procedures
• Monitor and manage patients with diagnoses including unstable angina, CHF, dysrhythmias, CVA, TIA, and low-risk chest pain evaluation
• Initiate and titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone
• Manage telemetry monitoring and pulse oximetry; operate high-flow O2 equipment, non-rebreather masks, and BiPAP for appropriate patient populations
• Manage a patient assignment of up to 5–6 patients in a high-volume unit with frequent admissions and discharges; support team lead with turnover as needed
• Participate in on-call rotation, float assignments, and required weekend coverage including every other weekend, 2 Mondays, and 2 Fridays per 6-week period

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a cardiac stepdown or similar high-acuity unit with comparable patient ratios
• Proficiency in IV insertion, telemetry monitoring, and cardiac drip management including PCI experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications
• Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start
• Comfort with self-scheduling guidelines, float requirements, and a fast-paced, high-turnover unit environment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience preferred; first-time travelers will be considered
• Familiarity with Pyxis, Epic (Dimensions), and SBAR communication framework
• Experience caring for patients on opti-flow or BiPAP in a stepdown setting
