Veterinary Lab Technician / Lab Assistant
Veterinary Pathology Services (VetPath), Phoenix, AZ · Full-time · [Pay range]
About the role
We're a small veterinary diagnostic pathology lab looking for a reliable, detail-oriented technician to support daily lab operations. You'll handle specimens from receipt through processing and help keep the lab running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Receive, accession, and log incoming cases and specimens accurately
- Enter case and client information into the lab system
- Gross and process tissue samples (trimming, cassetting, processing, embedding)
- Assist with sectioning, staining, and slide preparation as trained
- Track case status and keep records organized and up to date
- Maintain lab cleanliness, equipment, and supply inventory
- Follow safety protocols for chemicals (formalin, xylene) and biological specimens
- Provide general support to the pathologist and staff as needed
Qualifications
- Experience in a veterinary, histology, or medical lab setting preferred
- Vet tech, histotech, or biology/life science background a plus
- Strong attention to detail and accurate data entry
- Comfortable working with tissue specimens and lab chemicals
- Organized, dependable, and able to work independently in a small team
