Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)

Shift: 10:30 AM - 11:00 PM. Please note that block scheduling is not guaranteed.

Job Description

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients across various age groups, including newborns, pediatrics, adults, and geriatric patients. The RN will encounter a diverse range of medical conditions, including strokes, sepsis, trauma, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure. The role may require floating to different areas within the Emergency Department.

Unit Information

Unit: Emergency Department

Number of Beds: 64 (including 2 Triage, 40 acute, 6 super track, 2 Trauma, 10 CDU, 6 psych)

Common Patient Diagnoses: Stroke, Sepsis, Trauma, MI, Cardiac Arrest, Respiratory Failure

Specialty Equipment: Rapid Infusor, Arctic Sun

Expected to provide care to all assigned patients, including SANE patients.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Emergency Department, with pediatric experience preferred.

Current AHA certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC.

Active NY Nursing License with verified NURSYS report.

EMR experience in EPIC is required.

Drivers license with an address matching the demographics.

Required Skills and Competencies

The ED RN should be proficient in administering required drips and medications, including:

Pressors: Levophed, Neo, Epi, Vasopressin, Dobutamine, Dopamine

Vasodilators: Cleviprex, Cardene, NTG

Anti-arrhythmics: Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lidocaine

Sedatives: Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl

Anticoagulants: TNK, Heparin
