GVEA is an electric cooperative that owns and maintains 3,491 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 35 substations, and 9 generating facilities. Our system is interconnected with Fort Wainwright, Eielson AFB, Fort Greely, Clear Space Force Station, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, and all electric utilities in the Alaska Railbelt, which extends from Homer to Fairbanks. YOUR ROLE AS THE GAS TURBINE ASSISTANT PLANT MANAGER

As the Gas Turbine Assistant Plant Manager at Golden Valley Electric Association, you will provide leadership, direction, and supervision to employees across GVEA's North Pole, Delta, and Fairbanks power plants. Working closely with the Gas Turbine Plant Manager, you will help ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations while supporting the development and qualification of plant personnel.

In this role, you will assist with plant operations and maintenance, budgets, work management, safety programs, environmental compliance, and employee training. You will help monitor plant performance, manage workflow and outage-related work, track budget variances, and ensure the plants meet established availability, capacity, and reliability goals.

You will also assist with capital improvement projects, provide daily direction and supervision to plant personnel, and help maintain a strong safety culture. This position offers the opportunity to combine your leadership and power plant expertise while supporting the reliable generation of electricity for GVEA and the communities we serve.

What you need to be successful

The Gas Turbine Assistant Plant Manager requires strong leadership experience and technical knowledge of power plant operations. Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Management, Engineering, or a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. A minimum of 10 years of management experience, including at least two years in a supervisory role, is required.

Knowledge and skills required for the position include:

• Knowledge of plant operations, maintenance, and power plant theory.
• Strong leadership and employee development skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with professional reports and spreadsheets.
• First Aid/CPR certification.
• Valid Alaska driver's license.
