Position: RN - Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (ACE Unit - Acute Care for the Elderly)

Shift: Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:30)

Job Description

The RN will work in the Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) unit, providing specialized care to patients aged 65 and older. The unit is dedicated to preserving cognitive and physical function, aiming to return patients to their pre-admission baseline.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide telemetry-capable care for hospitalized patients on a 26-bed unit.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
• Perform IV starts, blood product administration, and central/peripheral/PICC line management.
• Conduct dysrhythmia interpretation and management, as well as remote telemetry monitoring.
• Implement heparin protocols and provide telemetry-capable care.
• Focus on geriatric care best practices to maintain cognitive and physical function.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in medical-surgical or telemetry nursing.
• Active SC or multistate nursing license required.
• Certification in BLS and ACLS is mandatory.
• Experience with EPIC EMR (1 year minimum) is required.
• Preferred: experience in charge nurse roles and with patient ratios of 1:5.

Additional Information

• Orientation: 12 hours; conducted every Monday.
• Note: All staff may be required to float to other units as needed, based on census concerns.
• Compliance modules (up to 16 hours) are required for all travelers, with reimbursement for time spent completing them.
