About the Position

Job Overview

• September 1, 2026 start – ongoing until the facility is fully staffed
• Minimum availability of 5 shifts per month
• 12-hour shifts:
  • Day Shift: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
  • Night Shift: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Credentialing timeframe: Approximately 3–6 weeks
• Facility may assist with emergency privileges
• Location: San Jose, CA 95124
• Setting: Inpatient
• Hospital size: 329 staffed beds
• Trauma designation: Not a designated trauma center
• ICU beds: 40
• ICU model: Open ICU that operates as a closed ICU, with intensivists serving as the admitting physicians
• Physician-only coverage model with no APP support
• Locum physician will work independently
• Average daily census per provider:
  • Days: Approximately 12 patients
  • Nights: Approximately 15–19 patients
• Average admissions per shift:
  • Days: Approximately 3
  • Nights: Approximately 3–5
• Mixed ICU patient population, including medical/surgical, neurological, cardiovascular, and cardiac patients
• Required procedures: Intubations, central lines, arterial lines, hemodialysis catheters, chest tubes, and ECMO
• Provider must respond to codes
• EMR: Meditech
• ACLS and BLS required
• Two or more years of Critical Care experience preferred but not mandatory
• Board-eligible physicians will likely be considered
• Providers with closed malpractice cases will not be accepted
• Providers residing within 60 miles of the facility may not be considered
• Delta Locum Tenens can assist with travel arrangements and credentialing, and will cover malpractice.
