About the Position

Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Pulmonary Unit - 6 South) Location: Tuscaloosa, AL Schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 Night Shift | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (36 or 48 Hours/Week) | Every Other Weekend & Holidays as Required Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Position Overview The Registered Nurse on the 36-bed Med/Surg Telemetry Pulmonary Unit (6 South) delivers specialized nursing care for patients diagnosed with a wide variety of respiratory disorders, lung diseases, and traumatic chest injuries. Operating within a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio environment, the RN provides continuous telemetry monitoring, general medical-surgical care, and targeted pulmonary interventions while working collaboratively with respiratory therapy, physical therapy, care management, and pharmacy teams. Direct offers are made based on candidate profile, with optional interviews available upon request. Key Responsibilities • Pulmonary Care Management: Provide direct nursing care, therapeutic respiratory interventions, and telemetry monitoring for patients with acute and chronic pulmonary conditions. • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner closely with respiratory therapists, physical therapists, care managers, and clinical pharmacists to execute comprehensive care plans. • Onboarding Assessment: Successfully pass a Basic Dysrhythmia examination during onboarding (maximum 2 attempts permitted). • Unit & System Floating: Maintain flexibility to float to other Med/Surg telemetry units or affiliated regional hospital facilities as assigned. Position Qualifications Mandatory Requirements • Licensure: Active Alabama RN License or active Compact/Multi-State RN License (Temporary licenses are not accepted). • Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience under highest professional license (will consider 18 months total experience if paired with at least 1 year of specialty pulmonary/telemetry experience). • Certifications: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA). • Education: Minimum Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree. • EHR Proficiency: Experience with Meditech charting system. Contract & Facility Details • Cancellation Policy: Facility reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week contract. • Local Candidates: Local applicants accepted with no pay rate adjustment.
