Polysomnographic Technologist Student

Job Overview FULL TIME Reports to Sleep Manager under supervision by Polysomnographic Technologist. A Student Polysomnographic Technologist works under the general supervision of the Medical Director and designee (department director/manager/supervisor/technologist) to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services or patient care and education. Areas of Responsibility Provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. Conduct polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services. Provide patient care and education related to sleep medicine. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Currently enrolled in or have completed the A‑STEP or STAR designated online Self‑Study Modules in preparation for certification exam; OR completed ASTEP didactic education program; OR in a formal polysomnography program and/or enrolled in a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) program with the polysomnography option. Familiarity with the field of sleep medicine and progressive completion of an A‑Step or other CAAHEP program. Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists certification required within 1 year or National Board of Respiratory Care certification. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s degree. Additional relevant experience in sleep medicine. Work Information Primary Location: Site - Sleep Evaluation Services Southfield, 16310 Twelve Mile Rd, Southfield. Department: Sleep Diagnostic - Royal Oak Hosp. Employment Type: Full time. Shift: Rotating. Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40. Hours of Work: Variable. Days Worked: Variable. Weekend Frequency: N/A.
