Region 16 is looking to fill a position Rate: $25.33 per hour Candidates Must Have: Two years of college credit (60 credits) OR an Associate's (or higher) degree, OR have successfully passed the Paraprofessional Assessment test. One-year experience working with or training to work with children with disabilities required, experience working with students with ASD preferred. College credits with emphasis on child growth/development, psychology, social work, or related area is preferred. Demonstrates strong basic skills in English, reading, math, writing and other subjects. PMT Trained Successful Completion of 40 hours online RBT course including passing the Competency Assessment with Compliance Supervisor.

Position Summary : The Behavior Technician (BT) is a paraprofessional with specialized training primarily responsible for the direct implementation of skill acquisition and behavior reduction plans. A BT must have the ability to work with students with behavior challenges. The role of the BT is to provide 1:1 behavioral intervention to teach communication, social, and daily living skills and reduce problematic behaviors in throughout the school setting. Behavior Technicians will utilize interventions developed out of the science of Applied Behavior Analysis. BT's will also be required to collect data and maintain regular contact with the student's special education team regarding patterns of behavior, including progress and new/emerging behaviors. Position Summary: The Behavior Technician (BT) is a paraprofessional with specialized training and responsibility for the direct implementation of skill acquisition and behavior reduction plans while under the close, ongoing supervision of a Resource Room teacher/support staff/BCBA. A BT must have the ability to work with students with behavior challenges. The role of the BT is to provide behavioral interventions to teach communication, social and daily living skills and reduce problematic behaviors throughout the school setting. Behavior Technicians will utilize interventions developed out of the science of Applied Behavior Analysis. BTs will also be required to collect data and maintain regular contact with the student's special education team regarding patterns of behavior, including progress and new/emerging behaviors. BTs must complete PMT training.

General Duties: May include but are not limited to:

• Establishes & maintains therapeutic relationship with student(s)
• Implementation of teaching programs and behavior data
• Collect and graph academic and behavioral data
• Create student visual supports and materials needed for instruction
• Prompts safe and socially acceptable replacement behaviors in order to build a repertoire of communication, social interaction and problem-solving skills
• Fades prompts appropriately to promote both successful and independent responding
• Increases the frequency or duration of safe and appropriate replacement behaviors by providing access to reinforcers (desired items/actions, attention, or removal of demands/aversive situations)
• Accurately collects behavior data including: A-B-C, count, frequency, duration, latency, inter-response time, event, and interval-based recording
• Follows the treatment plan goals and interventions utilizing sound judgment and seeks out appropriate consultation
• Supports students in the activities of daily living such as eating, toileting, transporting and other routine self-care tasks
• Implements behavior support plans in order to ensure that students with significant disabilities are demonstrating academic, social, emotional and behavioral growth in the least restrictive environment

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of the requirements, practices and procedures involved instructing special needs students both in small groups and individually
• Skill and sensitivity to work with students with various disabilities including significant behavioral challenges, requiring patience, understanding, affection, and firmness
• Ability to informally assess student behavior and recommend improvements
• Ability to discipline students in a positive but firm manner when required
• Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with others
• Successful Completion of 40- hour online RBT course work including passing the final assessment

Education and/or Acceptable Experience and Training:

• Two years of college credit (60 credits) OR an Associate's (or higher) degree, OR have successfully passed the Paraprofessional Assessment test
• One-year experience working with or training to work with children with disabilities required, experience working with students with ASD preferred
• College credits with emphasis on child growth/development, psychology, social work, or related area is preferred
• Demonstrates strong basic skills in English, reading, math, writing and other subjects
• PMT Trained
• Successful Completion of 40-hour online RBT course work including passing the final assessment (within 30 days of hire)

Language Level: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to understand the integrity and confidentiality of certain matters pertaining to the work with the students.

Other Skills and Abilities: Understands children and their social and emotional needs. Displays good judgment and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate with individuals with a wide range of ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
