Make a real impact by supporting students with visual impairments in a welcoming school environment near Elgin, IL. This contract opportunity is ideal for professionals passionate about helping children achieve their greatest potential and fostering independence in the classroom. You’ll work as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in an onsite, part-time, itinerant position, collaborating with dedicated teams across elementary and middle school settings.
Qualifications:
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with TVI endorsement required
- Previous experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with staff, students, and families
- Ability to adapt and develop instructional materials in accessible formats
- Commitment to inclusive practices and student-centered strategies
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional support and consultation services for students with visual impairments
- Adapt curriculum materials and classroom environments to ensure accessibility
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of individualized education plans
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed
- Travel between schools in the district to deliver services to a varied caseload
This part-time, onsite position offers a rewarding experience working from August 2026 through May 2027, providing substantial opportunity for professional growth and meaningful engagement. The caseload consists of students from elementary through middle school, enabling you to influence learners at multiple educational stages.
