Ultrasound Sonographer (PRN) - Obstetrics and Gynecology

Position Summary Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physicians. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Perform ultrasound examinations per scanning protocols, collecting patient history, present findings to physician, and adhere to patient schedules. Assist physicians with procedures by providing sonographic guidance, obtaining necessary supplies, and monitoring patient needs. Teach ultrasound procedures to residents, students, fellows, and new sonographers; enhance professional growth through educational programs, literature, meetings, and conferences. Maintain documentation, patient files, data entry, and paperwork required for procedures/processes. Develop film via automatic processing, monitor darkroom supplies and equipment. Follow departmental policies and procedures, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Perform phlebotomy and injections when required. Assist with maintaining supplies and equipment; provide front‑desk support to clerical staff as needed. Working Conditions Job Location/Environment: Normal office environment. Physical Effort: Typically sitting at a desk or table. Equipment: Office equipment. Required Qualifications Education: Associate degree or combination of education and experience may substitute for minimum education. Certifications / Professional Licenses: Basic Life Support – American Heart Association or American Red Cross Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) – American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Registered Diagnostic Cardio – American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) – American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Registered Musculoskeletal Sonographer (RMSKS) – American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Work Experience: No specific work experience required. Driver’s License: Not required. Preferred Qualifications Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within one month of hire date. No additional education or certification required.
