Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week travel contract in Carlsbad, NM, requiring 2+ years of ICU experience, float capability to ER and Med-Surg, and a NM or compact RN license.

Details

• Day shift position, 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM
• Works primarily in a 12-bed ICU with floating required to the ER and Med-Surg departments
• ICU patient ratio of 1:2–3
• Scope of care includes total patient care for ICU-level patients, including ventilator management, titratable drips, medication mixing, and hygiene care
• When floating to the ER, nurses assist with call lights, medication passing, patient transport, IV starts, and blood draws — a full patient assignment is not required
• When floating to Med-Surg, nurses take a full assignment of up to 6 patients or may serve in an aide role covering up to 12 patients
• EMR: MedHost
• No on-call required
• Holiday coverage is required

Requirements

• Active NM or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; no certifications expiring within the first 30 days of the start date
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
• ER and Med-Surg experience required
• TNCC preferred
• Experience with ventilators, titratable drips, medication mixing, and patient hygiene preferred
• MedHost EMR experience beneficial
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
• Valid driver's license required
• US Social Security Number required

Additional Information

• 13-week contract
• Fingerprinting is required for all travelers working in New Mexico; this process can take several weeks
• Float rotation is managed via a float log in the ICU; the house supervisor or director may override the rotation based on departmental needs and nurse experience
• Any time-off requests must be less than one week in duration
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Candidates who have worked at any CHS facility as permanent staff within the past 2 years are not eligible
• Scrubs: any color
• Blocked scheduling may be accommodated
