The program provides academic support, attendance outreach, and college and career readiness services to help students successfully transition into post-secondary education, training, or employment.Job SummaryThe Youth Development Specialist provides direct support to high school students in a school-based setting. This role focuses on academic monitoring, attendance support, student engagement, and career exploration. The position is ideal for an early career or entry level candidate interested in education, social services, or youth support work.This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys working directly with high school students or young adults and wants to make a positive impact. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, and comfortable communicating with students, families, and coworkers. The position involves juggling multiple responsibilities, following through on tasks, and using technology such as email, excel, and databases. A willingness to learn and grow is essential to success in this position.Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Support & EngagementProvide one-on-one support to high school students focused on academic progress, attendance, and goal settingMonitor student performance and identify barriers to successSupport students in planning for college, vocational training, or employment after graduationAssist students with completing education, training, or employment-related applicationsWorkshops & Group ActivitiesFacilitate or assist with group workshops focused on job readiness, life skills, and career explorationPromote student participation through structured group activitiesEncourage positive engagement and skill development in group settingsFamily & Outreach SupportCommunicate with students and families regarding attendance and participationConduct outreach to re-engage students as neededMaintain professional and supportive relationships with families and caregiversDocumentation & Administrative TasksMaintain accurate and timely student records and notesTrack attendance, participation, and outcomes using electronic systemsComplete required documentation and administrative tasks on timeAssist with additional program responsibilities as assignedQualificationsAssociate's or Bachelor's degree completed or in progress in Education, Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field of studyPreferred Qualifications (Not Required)Prior experience through work, internships, volunteer roles, or part-time positions supporting youthExperience in a school, nonprofit, social services, or community program settingFamiliarity with college preparation, career planning, job readiness, or academic support activitiesAbility to work effectively as part of a team in a structured, fast-paced environment
