Senior Clinical Data Scientist

Senior Clinical Data Scientist position within the Ion robotic platform business unit, focused on translating clinical questions into data-driven analyses to inform product strategy and evidence generation for minimally invasive lung biopsy technology.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders to identify data needs and translate them into prioritized research questions with testable hypotheses
• Design and implement quantitative analyses using statistical, machine learning, and causal inference methods on clinical and device data
• Translate complex analyses into decision-useful narratives tailored for diverse audiences including clinicians, leadership, and physicians
• Support clinical trial design and execution; assist with regulatory submissions and dataset validation for compliance
• Develop reproducible, well-documented codebases and champion data-driven culture across the organization

Requirements

• 6+ years experience with Master's degree, or 4+ years with PhD in quantitative/scientific field; MD with quantitative research also accepted
• Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis, statistical modeling, and visualization
• SQL knowledge for querying and managing structured datasets
• Demonstrated experience with causal inference methods and study design
• Experience with device-generated logs, clinical study/registry data, and claims/EHR databases
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Snowflake or Databricks) and data visualization tools like Tableau
• Knowledge of Electronic Data Capture systems and regulatory compliance (FDA, EU MDR standards)
