Payroll Assistant (Temp-to-Hire) A well-established professional services firm in Pasadena is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Assistant to join their growing payroll team. This position will support the processing of payroll for 8,000+ multi-state employees across the U.S. The ideal candidate is organized, deadline-driven, and thrives in a high-volume environment where accuracy and customer service are key. Key Responsibilities Assist with processing bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for 8,000+ employees across multiple states. Review and audit payroll data for accuracy, including hours worked, earnings, deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings. Support payroll specialists with payroll preparation, validation, and reconciliation activities. Enter and maintain employee payroll information within the payroll system. Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries. Assist with multi-state payroll tax compliance and reporting requirements. Process employment verifications, wage garnishments, and direct deposit updates. Generate payroll reports and assist with audits as needed. Maintain confidential employee information and ensure compliance with company policies and payroll regulations. Collaborate with HR, Benefits, and Finance teams to ensure accurate employee records and payroll processing. Qualifications 1+ years of payroll, payroll support, accounting, HR, or related administrative experience. Experience supporting high-volume payroll processing preferred. Familiarity with multi-state payroll practices is highly desirable. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including sorting, filtering, and basic formulas. Experience with ADP, Workday, UKG, Ceridian, or other payroll systems is a plus. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
