Maintenance EngineerKTBC Fox 7, a Fox-owned and operated TV station in downtown Austin, TX, is seeking a full-time customer service-focused and team-oriented Maintenance Engineer.The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining video, audio, and other television broadcast and non-broadcast equipment, including data networks including SMPTE ST 2110 standards, production control switchers, audio mixers, automation systems, routing switchers, server-based record and play-out systems, non-linear editors, encoders, decoders and multiplexers, newsroom computer systems, media streaming systems, and RF transmission equipment.Responsibilities include:Provide paramount customer service and collaboration with other departments.Collaborate with an astute engineering team to design, install, test, and document new systems and equipment as assigned.Manage and maintain data networks while conforming to our Information Security Team's strict policies.Perform minor repairs and maintenance to all systems supporting broadcast operations for live and production events.Accurately troubleshoot and repair technical faults quickly to minimize loss of service.Perform software and hardware updates, tests, and installation as required.Provide technical assistance and training to the technical operating staff on day-to-day operations and workflows.Practice, teach, and encourage best engineering standards and practices.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications and Requirements:Applicant must have the ability to solve complex problems and the capacity to concentrate for long periods.Must have a solid working knowledge of broadcast and network systems. Experience in RF and fiber optic workflows is desirable.Applicant must be able to work in a proactive, not a reactive, environment.Candidate must be able to work in a team collaborative environment and be a self-starter without direct supervision.Must be flexible with changes in workflows, a clear communicator, detail-oriented, and highly organized.Applicants with prior experience in television, radio broadcast engineering, or similar technical disciplines are preferred.An associate degree with an emphasis in Engineering/ IT is preferred, or at least four years of equivalent industry experience is needed.Applicant must be able to climb ladders up to 20 feet, lift 40 pounds, and work in tight spaces.Must be able to work flexible hours.Must be able to work fully onsite, either at the station's Studio or Transmitter.A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required to drive company vehicles.Must pass a background check.We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
